after several hours on the tarmac in Salt Lake, with bad weather rolling in and a series of questionable events  - we finally were able to take off for Jackson Hole. as luck would have it i eventually arrived, as did my friend, and we woke up to 15" of fresh. don't you wish mtn time was just a little bit slower? i do.

the magic continues.

sunsets that are absolute perfection.

Plus some pretty amazing skies and a full moon to keep it all in check.

There's not much between West Yellowstone and Seattle, but this sleepy town falls smack in the middle - and so, that's where we found ourselves. Charming on surface with a seedy (somewhat hidden) past, unforgettable.

Three guys and a girl stuck in Salt Lake for 11 hours...

The answer was clear.

It's probably safe to assume
that even this place would start
around $3000/month.

Our little buddy, Gavin (10), shouted at us with our raised westward facing
cameras / ipads / iphones...

"I don't get it...it's the same thing every night...why do you need to take a picture of it?"

...then he pretty much dropped the mic and walked away.

One of those places that makes you throw away everything else you had planned for the day...

I have such an intense love of water that sometimes I think sea lions or sea otters must be my spirit animal.

At one point I wanted to come back in another life as one, but then realized maybe a duck is a better option...

To be able to both swim and fly!?
whaaaaaaaat??...

One way to enjoy this beloved spot all on your own?

Cross the bridge in driving rain and
wind so powerful it will blow you over!

This is what memories are made of! 

I sat for nine hours on Sunset Beach
along the North Shore of Oahu
thoroughly bewitched by these surfers
competing in the Volcom Pipe Pro.
The conditions changed rapidly throughout the day.

Of course by the end I was ready
to quit my job to follow the surf circuit
for the rest of my life...

Coincidentally, we both found ourselves waiting.

I can't even being to tell you how far we got off the trail...none of us have ever been ones to follow the path.

A prime spot  -
the barriers drop off and leave
just rock and water beneath your feet.

A mesmerizing seat
for quiet meditation...

Rich saturated colors in the landscape combine with sweet intoxicating smells that seduce you to stay.

Went for 7 days, stayed for 14.
...even then it seemed too soon to leave.

Island life...where even a cloudy
windy day can't bring you down.

Summer Sundays, Wednesdays + Fridays have always been 7pm sharp at the bowl.

World Ski and Snowboard Festival ignited a deep obsession with
Whistler, B.C.

Counting down the days until
wssf 2016... 

Most of the path is wooded, but mid-trip the trail takes you from dense woods into an expansive vista of mountains and multiple layers of green.

Nothing short of extraordinary.

Late day slalom + foot runs...nothing else could illuminate the most wonderful memories of my childhood like this does.

I'm terrified of heights, 
but for whatever reason,
I unwittingly seem to enjoy
challenging that fear.

We reclined on the beach after an extensive hike, watched the surfers and basked in the sun. A different side of San Francisco than I was accustomed to.

Whistler, I wish I could quit you.
